I’m a stay at home mom, so I’m always looking for creative, fun, or educational things to do with my daughter. But a lot of the time our day is broken up with a trip to gymnastics or the library..or even just grocery shopping is sometimes a nice way to get out of the house.
At the moment, many of us are suddenly at home with the kids (the big quarantine of 2020!) But for me, it actually took awhile to figure out WHAT to do all day even before this stay at home mandate happened.
Here’s how our days have changed, without putting so much stress on being the “perfect mom” but a healthy one:
1. We read a book in bed before getting up. The snuggles help set the tone for the day & give me a sec to actually wake up lol.
2. We cook together. I’ll admit that I ate out more than I wanted to before. I’m now teaching my daughter to cook and help in the kitchen and she loves it! (She’s 2) If she’s not in the mood, she plays in the sunroom where I can see her.
3. We usually do laundry or clean together then suddenly BAM it’s time to make lunch & get ready for nap!
4. After nap, we go on a walk, learn to ride her bike, or play outside.
Then dinner, bath, etc. I do my work while she’s napping & if there’s a lot to do I let her watch a show while I work more. I try to keep to 30 mins of screen time a day, but on harder days when I need more of a break, we’ve been watching this show called “The Universe” on Netflix and learning about all the planets together.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that it’s taken a LONG couple years to not feel pressure to be a “super mom”. It’s also taken time to adjust to being in this quarantine and new routine.
What about you? How are you feeling?
